The upcoming 5 aside football tournament received a boost as Hon Olumide Jones' team has registered to participate in the upcoming tournament scheduled to hold in Abeokuta, ogun state's capital.

The football tournament, which is organised by the Coalition of Ogun Youth Forum, also has other teams such as the Navy, NPF, NSCDC, and other community based football teams participating in the Tournament. 

The tournament will also serve as a channel for the players to showcase their talents amidst interest from some football clubs in Nigeria such as Julius Berger FC and others.

Hon Olumide Jones  shows his readiness to support his team and to be a booster to the organizer of the competition. 

Hon OJ, as fondly called, sees this as an opportunity to make the youth happy and support the grassroots movement. 

In his words, he said that competitions like this keep the youth busy and distracted from social vices. It will also regulate their activities and keep them focused on achieving their sporting goals. 

He further said that he is willing to support the organizers to make it successful, especially with the present situation of the country where youths constantly experience feelings of hopelessness.

He urges the government in power to see sport as avenues to keep the youth busy and channel their resources to the right part.

He lamented on the neglect of sporting activities in the state and the nation, and attributed it to the failure of Nigerian Teams at the just concluded Olympic games where Nigeria failed to win a single medal for the first time in the history of the Olympic games.

The upcoming football tournament is expected to start in the month of September in Abeokuta.
