OGUN REP. MEMBER FLAGS-OFF CONSTRUCTION OF 22KM OKO-ADA ROAD




 


A 22 Kilometer Oko-Ada Road in Makun, Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State, has been flagged-off as part of efforts to make lives more bearable for residents in the area.


Speaking at the ceremony, a member, representing Remo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga, saying on completion, the road would link Sagamu and Simawa down to Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.


Hon. Onanuga disclosed that the project was in collaboration with the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Senator Gbenga Daniel, saying, “It’s not a road that can be done in one phase, so we are going to do it in phases, as much as we would put it in the road but we want to believe that we would be able to do the considerable length because the Senator is also starting from the end of the road and we are hoping that we will meet halfway or at least, a considerable length”.


She underscored the importance of infrastructure to the development of the state, particularly in rural communities, noted that the agrarian communities would have access to good road network to bring their produce to the markets for improved income, thereby enhancing their living standard and boosting the state’s economy.


Contributing, Senator Representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Senator Gbenga Daniel, represented by Aare Asoludero of Simawa, Kolade Segun-OKeowo, stated that the significant of road to the socio-economic growth of the society cannot be underestimated, appreciating Hon. Onanuga for the good job so far.


 "Today is the happiest day in the history of Makun in Sagamu because people suffered a lot on this particular road, when coming from Simawa to Sagamu, we have to go through another local government which is a long way", he said.


On his part, the Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, represented by Radanua of Idado, Oba Musiliu Soile, while applauding government for the project, noted that the construction would bring development to Sagamu and Simawa.


In his goodwill message, the Asiwaju of Remoland, Asiwaju Solomon Onafowokan, who appraised the good work of the Federal Government in the state, noted that the road had been inaccessible for years, which contributed to the international market along the road being abandoned, affirming that the completion of the road would ease the movement of the people and increase commercial activities in the area.


Remarking, representative of the construction company, Daisygo Concept Limited, Mr. Goodwill Chinebere, solicited the support of the community in completing the work, assuring them of the speedy completion of the road.
