Civil/Public Servants in the Ogun State Service have been commended for the crucial roles they are playing in executing the 'Building our Future Together' agenda of the present administration in the State.
The Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya gave the commendation when he led the Body of Permanent Secretaries, Directors and members of staff across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government, Local Government, Labour Leaders, amongst others in a Special Thanksgiving Church Service to mark the year 2024 Public Service Day celebrations held at the Chapel auditorium of the Ogun State Government House Chapel, Oke -Igbein, Abeokuta.
According to him, all management and staff of all government agencies across the State must be appreciated for their steadfastness in effectively implementing the five pillars of the I.S.E.Y.A. mantra that has made Ogun State industrial hub of the nation.
He said Ogun State is blessed to have a worker-friendly governor at the helms of affairs and appreciated him for his commitment to the welfare of the workers, and concluded that the governor has a strong will to keep bettering the lots of the workers.
"We're here to celebrate and honour all workers based on their honourable works. The Public Service is important and capable of reshaping the trajectory of the nation by remaining efficient at duty posts. I thank the Public Service of Ogun State for the crucial role towards building the State as its engine room and I appreciate the Governor for his commitment to the welfare of the workers, especially in the area of capacity building", the HoS said.
Mr. Onasanya charged the workers to continue to rededicate themselves to duty while self development must be placed above primordial sentiments.
In separate interviews, the Commissioner for Environment in the State, Mr. Ola Oresanya, the Chairman, House Committee on Establishments and Training, Hon. Tunde Tella and the Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ogun State, Comrade Hameed Ademola-Benco congratulated the workers for the celebration of the day, and charged that as the best among comity of States, the tempo of dedication and effectiveness must not go down but be maintained and even surpassed.
Earlier in a sermon, the Preacher, Revd. Canon Samuel Soretire, in a message titled "Reasonable Service to God and Humanity" urged the workers to always render their duties with sincere hearts, faithfulness, diligence, not men pleasers but with the mind that one day account would be given for their stewardship after their sojourn on earth.
He said the church is pleased to rejoice with all the workers as thanks must be given to God because Ogun is the gateway to all good things in Nigeria and advised them to keep playing their roles in the proper channel.
Earlier, the only Bible passage taken from the book of Ephesians 6:1-12 was read by the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishments and Training, Mrs. Lydia Fajounbo.
