A Kano High Court has restrained the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigeria Police from arresting and detaining Kano State Chief of Staff, Shehu Wada Sagagi, over allegations of stealing palliatives.
The court, presided by Justice Aisha Yau, granted the restraining order in a case filed by Sagagi against the EFCC, Northern Arewa Merger Group APC, Hon Musa Mujahid Zaitawa, and the Commissioner of Police, Kano State.
The order also bars the EFCC and police from harassing, intimidating, molesting, or detaining Sagagi pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
The case has been adjourned to September 3rd for hearing of the motion on notice.
The allegations against Sagagi stem from claims of diversion of Federal Government palliatives, which he has denied. The Northern Youth Merger Group, an APC platform, had petitioned the EFCC to investigate and take action.
