Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has declared a 24-hour curfew in the state, effective immediately.
The announcement was made during a press conference at the Kano State Government House, where the Governor expressed concern over the hijacking of the #Endbadgovernance protest by hoodlums and thugs.
In Kano, the protest which began peacefully, took a violent turn as miscreants embarked on looting and destruction of properties.
Governor Yusuf stressed that the curfew was necessary to ensure the full protection of lives and properties in the state.
“All security agencies have been directed to ensure full and immediate compliance with the curfew,” the Governor stated.
He had earlier on Wednesday warned of potential troublemakers, revealing that intelligence suggested evil-minded individuals planned to hijack the protest.
