ABIODUN PRESENTS BUSES TO STUDENT UNIONS IN TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS

 


The present administration in the state has presented three 22-seater Hummer Buses to Student Union Government (SUG) of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye; Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun and Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, as part of plan to aid the smooth running of students' activities in Ogun State.


The state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, while presenting the buses at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, said the distribution was in batches, assuring that other state institutions would also benefit soon.


Governor Abiodun, highlighted his administration’s investment in education, especially in students’ welfare, including N2million cash awards and automatic employment to the Best Graduating Students in both public and private tertiary institutions across the state, to encourage excellent performance, as well as the recent N50,000 disbursed to indigene students in both public and private institutions across the nation to cushion the effects of the economic challenges on learners and parents


Represented by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, the governor pointed out that the work-study initiative was to help learners undergo their academic pursuit without monetary hitch, while N200million was packaged as infrastructural interventions for higher institutions to enable them maintain and secure amenities based on the needs of the institutions.


He reiterated government's commitment to sustaining the provision of qualitative and accessible education to the citizens.


Responding on behalf of other students, the Senate Presidents of TASUED and SUG President of MAPOLY, Olusola Afolabi and Hezekiah Babatunde, respectively, appreciated the state government for the good gesture, saying it was timely and would address transportation challenges being experienced by the students.
