President Bola Tinubu is currently in a closed-door meeting with Vice President Kashim Shettima and select governors at the State House in Abuja.

The meeting began shortly after the President concluded discussions with organized labour leaders regarding the new minimum wage.

In attendance are Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) Chairman AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara state), Charles Soludo (Anambra state), and Usman Ododo (Kogi state).

This meeting comes on the heels of a Supreme Court judgement granting financial independence to local governments, ordering direct payment of funds from the Federal Government to democratically elected local government officials.
