OGUN ASSEMBLY ASSURES ASUSS ON SPEEDY PASSAGE OF LAW ENTRENCHING APPOINTMENT OF PRINCIPALS GENERAL

Ogun State House of Assembly has assured the members of Academic Staff of Secondary School Teachers ( ASUSS) that law to entrench the appointment of Principal General, which had scaled the first reading on the floor of the Assembly would be given accelerated passage.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, gave the assurance, while playing host to the ASUSS members led by the Chairman, Comrade Oluwaseun Agbesaiwa, on a courtesy call at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Elemide, while responding to the request of the ASUSS members, assured that the Assembly would have a holistic look at the State pension law  to address the grey areas in conjunction with all stakeholders.

Earlier in their contributions, the Deputy Speaker, Bolanle Lateefat Ajayi and the Minority Lukman Adeleye, lauded the process of recruiting the Ogun teach teachers in the State, describing them as highly dedicated, certificated and certified teachers.

They acknowledged the efforts of Governor Dapo Abiodun led administration in the rehabilitation of schools in all parts of the State.

In his address, the State Chairman of ASUSS, Comrade commended the Assembly for giving priority through legislative process to the appointment of Principals General in the State; requesting for a status of permanent secretary for them.

The Chairman, while lauding State government for the provision of infrastructure in schools across the State, requested more infrastructure and payment of rural allowance to teachers posted to the grassroot.

He called on the Assembly to have a second look at the State pension law, with a view to extending its take-off date to address emerging issues surrounding its implementation for workers retiring in the months ahead to have their monthly pensions.

The union later inaugurated the Speaker as its patron.
