President Bola Tinubu is set to transmit the highly anticipated New National Minimum Wage bill to the National Assembly next week, barring any last-minute changes.

This move follows a meeting with the leadership of Organized Labour on Thursday, aimed at harmonizing the disputed figures.

Recall that President Tinubu had previously met with labour leaders last week to discuss the minimum wage issue.

The Tripartite Committee had submitted two separate figures: N62,000 from the government and private sector, and N250,000 from Organized Labour. Following the dispute over a unified figure, the President promised to engage with stakeholders to resolve the discrepancy before sending the executive bill to the National Assembly.

Meanwhile, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, last week briefed State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council meeting, chaired by President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Idris confirmed that the President will transmit the bill after Thursday’s meeting with labour leaders. Additionally, the executive will submit an amendment to the 2024 budget, which will include the new minimum wage and other essential matters.
