BRACE UP TO MEET CURRENT REALITIES, HoS TELLS WORKERS

 


Civil/Public Servants have once again been called upon to continue to brace up to meet the current realities of the industrial capital of Nigeria that the State has grown into by discharging their duties with utmost sense of responsibility.


The Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya made the call while declaring open a 2-day intensive training for Principal Administrative Officers, GL 12 with the theme "Capacity Building for Optimal Performance at the Managerial Level in the Civil/Public Service of Ogun State" held at the Staff Development Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta.


According to him, Ogun State is growing in all spheres as a result of the strategic economic plan of the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration as encapsulated in the five pillars of I.S.E.Y.A. Mantra, which has made it to become the industrial hub of the nation, hence, all hands must be on deck as the engine room of government to drive these policies.


The Head of Service appreciated the unyielding commitment of the Ogun State Government for continuous staff training and retraining, as well as all efforts at ensuring that regular trainings are conducted to build the capacity of all categories of staff in the Public Service.


He said the training was designed in line with the Schemes of Service prescription for career progression of the Administrative Officers and charged them to take full advantage of the opportunity to  achieve the desired goals in their career progression and not allow the resources invested in the training turn to a waste.


"It gladdens my heart to address you at this Intensive Course which signals the unyielding commitment of the Ogun State Government, under the visionary leadership of the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun to continuous staff training and ensure standards in all spheres of the Public Service. I want to assure you of my personal commitment to sustaining the trend already established in the State for staff training and ensuring that regular trainings are conducted to build the capacity of all categories of staff in the Public Service of the State", the HoS said.


Earlier in a welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishments and Training, Mrs. Bolaji Fajounbo said the training was another in the series for Principal Administrative Officers to acquire the required knowledge to move to middle level management cadre in the service and added that it is a certificated course necessary for their promotion in the Civil Service.


She urged them to give the training the necessary attention required in order not to miss out in the stipulated courses necessary for thier career progression.


In separate remarks, Permanent Secretaries, Bureau of Service Matters, Mr. Oladipupo Ogunfowora, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Adejumoke Adewole and Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Mrs. Kehinde Jokotoye, congratulated the participants for being chosen in the all important training, which was meant to close the leadership gap in the service and a good opportunity to learn and acquire knowledge.


They charged them not to allow the opportunity to slip off their hands but should pay serious attention to all the courses earmarked for the progression, not just for the certification but for personal development as well.


On his part in a keynote address, the Lead Consultant, A-A Cosmopolitan Memory Consult, a retired Permanent Secretary in the Ogun State Civil Service, Alhaji Adekunle Adegbite appreciated the government for the approval given yet again to organize the training, the Head of Service for being the right peg in the right hole for the assignment and the organisers for the efforts to package the event, with a call on all the participants to grab all that is required to move to their next level in their career.
