Bandits have kidnapped several passengers travelling in a bus at Okene, Kogi State.
The incident occurred on Wednesday as the bus, operated by Big Joe Motors, was en route from Edo State to Abuja.
A viral post on X revealed that the bus was ambushed, and the passengers were abducted, including the driver.
David Aiguobagbon, a manager with the Abuja branch of Big Joe Motors, confirmed the incident to Premium Times on Thursday.
“According to what we heard, there were 13 people, and some of the passengers were able to escape.
“And we have reported it to the police station where the incident happened,” Aiguobagbon stated.
Aiguobagbon added that the company had reported the incident to the local police and that one of their managers had travelled to Kogi State to assist the authorities.
He also mentioned that some passengers left their phones behind and that they have not yet received any ransom demands from the kidnappers.
“We have not heard from the driver yet. He has two phones, one was left behind and he was with the second one. We have been trying to reach him. Yesterday, his phone was still going but it was already switched off this morning,” he added.
