OGUN PILGRIMS REFLECT ON HAJJ EXPERIENCE AS DEPARTURE NEARS

In anticipation of their departure following the completion of year 2024 Hajj exercise, pilgrims from Ogun State have expressed excitement, gratitude and fulfilment for a successful spiritual journey in Saudi Arabia.

In a vox-pop conducted, one of the pilgrims, Alhaji Fadilullaih Tijani, from Imasayi in Yewa-North Local Government Area of the state, while recounting his experience, described each rite as life-changing, praying for God's acceptance of his supplications.

He enthused that the Hajj exercise such as climbing Mount Arafat and performing the Tawaf around the Kaaba, had been a transformative experience, disclosing that prayers offered at different sites had made him to be closer to Allah.

Similarly, Alhaja Fatimah Adekunle, a Civil Servant from Ijebu North Local Government, said the symbolic stoning at Jamarat, was an experience she would cherish forever, commending the state officials for diligence and the co- pilgrims for law-abiding.

Also speaking, Alhaji Mubarak Bello, from Odeda Local Government Area, rated the accommodation arrangements of the state government high, saying he felt safe and cared for throughout his stay in Mecca and Medina.

On her part, Alhaja Basirat Akanbi, from Yewa South Local Government, testified to the adequate welfare package enjoyed during the pilgrimage, commending the management of the state Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board for its efficiency.

"Many of us were very surprised when we heard about the shortfall in our Basic Transport Allowances. We didn't plan for this. But to my surprise, Governor Abiodun came to our rescue by covering the shortfall. It was a good gesture from someone who is not even a Muslim. It shows he is not partial when it comes to religious divides. May Allah bless him richly", she said.
