A Boeing Business Jet (Boeing 737-700) owned by the Nigerian government, registered as 5N-FGT, has reportedly accumulated parking charges of at least N549 million since it was transported to Germany for repairs, According to POLITICS NIGERIA.
This development comes despite the government’s promise to reduce waste and unnecessary expenditure.
The aircraft was reportedly moved from Zaria to Euro Airport in Germany on March 25 and has been parked there for 68 days, allegedly incurring a daily parking fee of €5,000 (N8 million).
It is learnt that the government of Bola Ahmed Tinubu has already paid €340,000 (N549 million) in parking fees, excluding the cost of repairs.
It should be recalled that President Tinubu was forced to charter a flight to Saudi Arabia in April after the presidential jet, 5N-FGW, developed a fault in the Netherlands.
The chartered Gulfstream G550 class jet was originally dedicated to Vice President Kashim Shettima and was previously used by former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
