Ogun State Government will continue to enhance the capacity building of its workforce through training and retraining programmes which is the basic ingredient for enhancing the smooth running of government business.
The Ogun State Head of Service,Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, stated this during a courtesy call on him by members of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), led by Mr. Ahmed Gobir.
According to the Head of Service, capacity building is the process of developing and strengthening the skills, abilities, processes that government and organisations require to promote efficiency and growth, pointing out that the present administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun has continued to provide the much needed support which has been yielding positive results.
Mr. Onasanya said the government through the Bureau of Establishments and Training has continued to sharpen the skills of the workforce while various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government were also empowered to organise in-service trainings for the workers.
He described the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management as partners in progress towards the enhancement of qualitative service delivery and added that the global body through well recognised certificates has continued to be in the vanguard of promoting training and development, performance management via monitoring and evaluation as well as goal setting and feedback mechanism built an efficient workforce in the State and the country at large.
The Head of Service described Ogun State Public Service as one of the best in the country in terms of structure, organisation and efficient service delivery as handed over by the forebears and stressed the need for the present crop of Civil/Public Servants to sustain the tempo in terms of conduct and delivery.
"I want to appreciate the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his role in the area of human capacity development as a lot has been done to build efficient skills and knowledge of the workforce in all categories in the State Civil/Public Service", the HoS said.
Earlier in his submission, the leader of the team, Mr. Ahmed Gobir said the team was at the Office of the Head of Service to pledge allegiance and support to him in his new assignment as well as seek ways of collaboration to further move the Civil Service forward.
