OGUN GOES TOUGH ON LAND ENCROACHERS

Ogun State Government has restated that it would punish any individual or corporate body encroaching on government-acquired lands across the state.

The Director-General, Bureau of Lands and Survey, Arc. Segun Fowora, who stated this in a chat with newsmen in Abeokuta, described land grabbing as a crime against humanity, lamenting that encroachers had taken over state acquired land meant for socio-economic development of the state.

Arc. Fowora reiterated the commitment of the government to boosting the economic values of the state, disclosing that the present administration had reorganised the sector, in accordance with the rules and regulations guiding the Bureau by setting up a task force and other committees to checkmate the activities of land grabbers and reduce it to the barest minimum.

The Director-General emphasised that anyone purchasing landed property in the state should contact the Bureau for professional advice, explaining that the 2km setback on major highways like Lagos-Ibadan, Ijebu-Ode/Benin-Ore, Abeokuta-Siun-Sagamu and Epe-Mojoda Expressways remain sacrosanct, urging members of the public to report any suspicious activities of land grabbers to appropriate quarters.
