A fire outbreak occurred on Friday at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) Tank Farm located on Kayode Street, Marine Beach, in the Apapa area of Lagos.
Eyewitnesses, including one Mr. Tunde Are told Daily Post that the fire started around 11:00 am, causing panic among nearby residents and workers.
According to Are, people scattered in different directions in an attempt to contain the fire before the arrival of rescue teams.
Leading the efforts to extinguish the flames were teams from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, as well as the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA).
As of the time of this report, the rescue teams were still battling the inferno, which was believed to have originated from a spillage of petroleum products within the tank farm’s perimeter.
The extent of the damage caused by the fire remains unclear, but the situation is being actively monitored by emergency responders.
Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed the incident.
