Process Servers attached to courts across the three Senatorial Districts of Ogun State should interact with State Counsels, to further improve their service delivery.
The State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Oluwasina Ogungbade, made this known during a meeting with Process Servers and State Counsels, at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Justice, Abeokuta, saying it became imperative for them to work together for the effective discharge of their duties.
Mr. Ogungbade revealed that the reward-based system introduced in the Ministry would be extended to Process Servers to boost their morale, urging them to be transparent in their dealings with the public.
In his remarks, the State Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Olusegun Olaotan, advised Process Servers to ensure all cases were executed, while suspects and witnesses were available in courts when needed.
Mr. Olaotan, who admonished State Counsels to organise witnesses together with Process Servers, to achieve positive results, warned that Lawyers, who compromise witnesses would be dealt with, assuring that necessary provisions would be put in place for Process Servers, to ease their mobility and facilitate prompt service delivery.
Contributing, the Director of Public Prosecution Department (DPP), Mrs. Olajumoke Adewole, tasked Process Servers to perform their duties diligently, make themselves known to their principals and be available in their various beats, as they were the first point of contact in any court.
She advised them to present direct reports when in court to know the level of each case, liaise with the Inspector of Police to get the address, as well as location of each occurrence and be prudent in spending, to enable them achieve their tasks.
On his part, the Officer in charge of Legal Prosecution, Mr. Charles Akinrosoye, charged them to be honest, trustworthy and take their job seriously and not support criminals.
Responding on behalf of Process Servers, an officer attached to Sagamu, Mrs. Yetunde Ajayi, appreciated the Ministry for the meeting, promising to continue to be diligent in the discharge of their duties and soliciting for more support.
