President Bola Tinubu has announced a new directive aimed at bolstering the Nigerian economy by encouraging the patronage of locally made goods.
A special adviser to the president of media and publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, disclosed this on Friday.
Addressing state house correspondents on the ongoing efforts to stabilize the naira, Ngelale conveyed President Tinubu’s call for Nigerians to prioritize purchasing products manufactured within the country.
He also highlighted recent improvements in the foreign exchange market, attributing them to interventions by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the resolution of foreign exchange debts totalling $7 billion.
Ngelale reiterated Tinubu’s message: “There has never been a more important time in our history to actively agree that we will patronize and purchase made-in-Nigeria products across all value chains, across all sectors.”
Ngelale urged citizens to report any observed irregularities and assured them of the government’s commitment to addressing such issues effectively.
In addition to promoting local production and curbing currency volatility, he said Tinubu’s administration is focused on supporting micro, small, and medium-scale enterprises (MSMEs) through the Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme.
”Under this initiative, over one million Nigerian businesses will receive conditional grants of up to N50,000 per nano enterprise, providing crucial financial support during challenging economic times,” he added.
