OGUN INDIGENE STUDENTS CONFIRM RECEIPT OF EDUCASH AWARD

Some students of Ogun State origin have confirmed the receipt of Prince Dapo Abiodun's Ogun State Educational Cash Award for Student Help (OgunEduCASH), an intervention programme for learners in all public primary and secondary schools, as well as public and private tertiary institutions across Nigeria, to cushion the effects of economic challenges on learners and their parents.

Recall that in February 2024, the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun announced that government would pay Fifty Thousand Naira each to learners of the state origin in both public and private tertiary institutions across the country.

Speaking to journalists, some students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Aminat Asaye and Tomiwa Iteoluwa of Mass Communication HND 2; Ogunjobi and Olujomehin Ebudola, who were HND 2 Accountancy students, as well as Rokeeb Ayinla, a Marketing ND 2 student, appreciated Governor Dapo Abiodun for the kind gesture, saying the money would go a long way in solving their academic needs.

Expressing their profound gratitude to the Governor, the students of D.S Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Adebayo Farouq and Olatinuke Olajumoke, HND 2, as well as Israel Liadi, Computer Science ND 2, said the CASH Awards would cater for their projects and settle the part payment of their school fees.

Also, Adewale Oyenekan, Rebecca Akinfenwa, Ayomide Leduwe, Toheeb Adesina and David Dosumu of Federal College of Education, Osiele, described Governor Abiodun as a compassionate, tender-hearted, generous and student-loving father, saying the money received was an indication of his passion for individual prosperity for the citizens of the state.

Fielding questions from journalists, the state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, affirmed that government had started direct payment of N50,000 into the accounts of about 60,000 indigene students of state in higher institutions across the country.

According to the Commissioner, government targeted 10,000 indigent students in public primary and secondary schools in the three Senatorial Districts in the state to get N10,000, saying it was part of the present administration's commitment towards ameliorating the current economic condition being experienced by the people.
