A sum of N6.169 billion has been budgeted to be expended by Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State for the year 2024, to maintain fiscal viability and ensure prompt delivery of dividends of democracy.
The Local Government Chairman, Hon. Babatunde Emilola-Gazal, who presented the budget proposal tagged, "Budget of Consolidation", before the the Legislative Council at ltoro, Ijebu-Ode, explained that the budget was designed to achieve the objectives of the council development plan, including macro-economic stability, human capital development, food security, provision of good road and improved business environment.
Hon. Emilola-Gazal stated that a total Recurrent Expenditure was earmarked for N5,469,353,100.00, of the total budget, while Capital Expenditure gulped N700,393,000.00.
He disclosed that the proposed budget would be funded through Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), as N138,756,000.00, that would be generated locally, while a total of N6,030,990,100.00 was expected from the federation account and other sources.
Hon. Gazal said his administration would continue to lay a solid foundation for the local government, especially at the crucial moment of his administration, promising to strive hard to improve the living standard of the citizenry.
Speaking, Leader of the House, Hon. Ogundare Adeshola, while commending the Chairman's developmental efforts, said the legislative council would ensure that the budget receive accelerated consideration and speedy passage of same in the interest of the people.
Hon. Adeshola informed that the House would follow necessary procedures, in line with the International Public Sector Accounting Standard (IPSAS), to make the Local Government Area become the best among equals.
