A former Senatorial Aspirant, Hon. Olumide jones has pleaded with Ogun State Government led by Prince Dapo Abiodun to ensure that whatever palliative programs that will be carried out by the Government, should be reached out to the grassroots that really needs it.
Hon Olumide Jones made this statement in Abeokuta, Ogun state Capital while answering questions from the newsmen.
Hon OJ, as fondly called by his teeming supporters, made this appeal and said that palliative programs can only be meaningful to the grassroots.
He said that as a politician, one of the greatest challenge we usually have is that some of our empowerment programs designed for the grassroots sometimes end up in the wrong hands, and same goes with most government programs too.
Hon OJ said, "I want to commend the cash distribution program of the state government and the process it is been used especially as it will be distributed to the students of Ogun state indigine directly at Educational level.
"It's a welcome development and I believe that it would meet its desired result, however I also want to advise the Government to make sure that other palliative programs that are being initiated, especially goods and foodstuffs should be well monitored so that it wouldn't end up in the hands of the saboteurs.
He further said that Nigeria is going through a turbulent time and average citizen needs the intervention of the government and the wealthy in the society to survive, it would be a disaster if the palliative program got hijacked by the saboteurs he said.
Jones also wants to advocate for non-state actors to be included in the planning of the programmes to ensure its success.
