Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the widow of the late Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, has expressed her displeasure with her late husband’s niece, Funke Akeredolu Aruna, for endorsing the incumbent governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, ahead of the November governorship election in the state.
In an Instagram post on Monday morning, Mrs Akeredolu criticized Funke for supporting Aiyedatiwa, who succeeded her late husband as governor following a leadership crisis caused by Akeredolu’s absence due to prostate cancer.
Aiyedatiwa had been accused of betrayal during Akeredolu’s incapacitation, leading to unsuccessful attempts by the State House of Assembly to impeach him.
Betty Akeredolu referred to Funke as a “bloody serpent” and questioned her loyalty to Aiyedatiwa, suggesting that time would reveal the true nature of their relationship.
She wrote: “Behold the face of Aketi’s niece, Funke Akeredolu Aruna, the former deputy chief protocol to Aketi, shamelessly parades as ‘I am lucky’ Bloody serpent! Time will tell if she is truly lucky!”
