SUCCESS OF ACCREDITATION EXERCISE: RESULT OF COMMITMENT: OKANLAWON

The Chairman of the Governing Council, D. S Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori-Ewekoro, Ogun State, Amb. Toye Okanlawon, has attributed the success of the recent NBTE's accreditation visit to the Institution to the act of God, as well as the single minded determination of the staff of the Institution.

Okanlawon stated this during the Board's exit briefing on its visit to the Polytechnic at Abeokuta on Wednesday. "Truth be told, I was very apprehensive when the NBTE gave us the visitation date, and insisted that the date could not be extended. But thankfully, through the wisdom and understanding of the Polytechnic Council members and the commitment of the Management and Staff, God came through for us", he said.

Commenting on the preparedness of the Institution for the visit, Mallam Garba Dansabe, a member of the NBTE's team that inspected the studios of Mass Communication Department, said "I personally have never seen such state- of-the arts studio equipment in any other Institution at resource inspiration stage. I am very, very impressed."

In his remarks at the event, the NBTE's Director of Academic Programmes, Architect Ngbede Ogoh urged the Institution to pay attention to practicals, because it is really what distinguishes the Polytechnic as a tertiary Institution designed to produce hands-on  skill. "Practicals account for a large space in our curriculum" Ogoh said, adding, "without practicals you will be producing not even half-baked graduates, but non-baked graduates".

Also speaking at the ceremony, a member of the Governing Council, Chief Mufutau Ajibola urged the NBTE to continue to work hand in hand with the Polytechnic, having in mind that our common goal is to graduate students that will contribute positively to the Nation's human capital development. Chief Ajibola also advised students and youths to shun bribery and other social vices capable of tarnishing their good names.
