The National Leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers Union [NURTW] has inaugurated a-27 man committee to pilot the Union's affairs across the State pending the conduct of elections.
Performing the swearing-in ceremony of the caretaker committee at the Union State office at Asero, Abeokuta, the Acting National Chairman of NURTW, Alhaji Aliyu Issa Ore appreciated the Governor Dapo Abiodun for lifting the operational ban on the union's activities in the State, promising the Union's readiness to be a partner in progress, especially in the Transportation sector.
Alhaji Ore implored the members of the Caretaker Committee to adhere strictly to the constitution of the Union by Obey rules and regulations, while assisting the State Government in actualizing its lofty programmes.
He challenged the Committee to justify the confidence reposed in them, assuring that the National Secretariat would continue to provide improved administrative guidance.
"I want to appreciate our Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for the honour done on us as a Union and we promise to Obey the rules and regulations of the NURTW. We assure His Excellency of our sincere contribution to the revenue of the State with an improved loyalty", he submitted.
Performing the oath of office Caretaker Committee, lead by Alhaji Mustapha Ismaila Adewale[Yaro], the Acting National Secretary of the Union, Comrade Kayode Agbeyanji implored them to be exemplary in their conducts through unity amidst members.
Earlier while speaking during a courtesy call, the State Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Gbenga Dairo who received the Union's National Delegate in his office in Abeokuta, expressed delight that the activities of the NURTW was back in the State with improved service delivery.
He enjoined them to ensure strict compliance with all rules and regulations of the Union.
Dairo added that, "this is the beginning of the warm relationship between them and the state is confident that, their emergence will be a good one to the State and National body of the Union"
In his acceptance speech, the State caretaker committee of the NURTW, Alhaji Mustapha Adewale thanked Governor Abiodun, promising his commitment to the overall development of the transport activities in the State.
Other members of the caretaker committee included: Tijani Fadeyi, Adebiyi Kalejaiye, Kehinde, Akeem Balogun, Abolade Taiwo among others.
