NASS INTERVENTION PROJECTS: OGHA LAUDS ABIODUN FOR CREATING ENABLING ENVIRONMENT, SEEKS ROAD REHABILITATION

The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, has commended the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for encouraging collaborative governance through the creation of enabling environment to aid  intervention projects and other empowerment programmes  facilitated by members of the National Assembly from the State to the various constituencies.

The Speaker gave the commendation while responding to the submission of a member representing Yewa North II State Constituency, Wahab Haruna, who spoke under personal explanation at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Elemide, who acknowledged the positive attitude of the government of inclusiveness being run by the Dapo Abiodun led-administration, recalled that  in the past there were instances of political differences between some former State Governors and National Assembly members which denied the people the benefit of the democratic gains of such projects.

The Speaker described the intervention projects as complementing the gains of the ISEYA Mantra of the present administration in the State, especially the rural electrification projects being resuscitated amongst others in Ogun West Senatorial District and other parts of the State.

He admonished the Federal lawmakers not to relent on their oars at facilitating more development projects to the grassroots, adding that such initiatives would further aid the socio-economic growth of the State.

Earlier, Hon. Wahab spoke on the revived rural electrification projects in his constituency by the Senator representing Ogun West, which he noted had been abandoned for over twelve years, leaving numerous communities into darkness; expressing optimism that the project upon completion would provide power supply to about 57 communities within his constituency.

Earlier at the plenary, the Speaker appealed to Governor Abiodun to consider the construction of more access roads across the State, with a view to easing human and vehicular movements.

Elemide made the appeal, while  responding to the submission of a member representing Ifo II State Constituency, Folawewo Salami, who reported the deplorable situation of roads networks, especially the Ijoko/Ajuwon/Alagbole and Hercules/Toyin/Giwa Roads within his constituency, noting that Government needed to maximize the dry season period to commence the construction of the roads.

The Speaker who corroborated Salami's submissions on the situation of the roads, directed the House Committee on Works and Infrastructure to liaise with the State  Ministry of Works and Infrastructure and the State Public Works Agency (OGPWA) to begin immediate construction and rehabilitation of roads in all parts of the State ahead of the rainy season.
