The Alayi Igboji- Akuru Community went agog for Mrs Ugomma Okorie Wright for her Education support program in Alayi, Bende LGA, Abia State which took place on January 23rd 2024. 

Joy and happiness were visible in the faces of children and students of Alayi Commercial Secondary School in Abia State as Mrs Ugomma Okorie Wright stormed the community school with Education materials  and notes books running into thousands.

This is in fulfilment of the promise she made to the school and the Community.

Mrs Ugomma Wright is the only daughter of Chief Chekwas Okorie (Ojeozi Ndigbo), the founder of APGA and UPP, who happens to be a Elder Statesman and Chief in the state. During her visit to the school formerly known as Igboji Secondary School,  named after her late grandfather the Igboji 1 of Alayi, Late Chief Okorie Emeri Okorie, she pledged to always make the Alayi Education Support a yearly program to support and uplift the education of the children in the community and the state.

In her words, she said that education is the bedrock of civilisation and the importance of education can never be over-emphasied therefore she will continue this path of philanthropic gesture as along as God continue to give her power to do so .

She also put smiles in faces of the teachers and Serving  Corpers in the school by giving them Gifts of cash and writing materials as a token thanks to them for their hardwork and to encourage them to be more diligent in discharging their duties.

One of the Chiefs of the community could not hold his joy when recounting how important the education intervention of Mrs Wright is to the school and the community, he declared Mrs Wright as a great philanthropist and that her  contribution to the development of the community cannot be overlooked.

The Chief, on behalf of the Community,  appreciated the efforts of Mrs Wright and also called on other sons and daughters of the community that are well to do to emulate the kind gesture of Mrs Wright

Some of those present at the donations were the Vice President of Alayi Development Union, Chief Uchechukwu Kalu (Akpurukwu Bende), Chief Eugene Orji Ikoro, Chairman of the Alayi Development Union among others. 

Mrs Wright promised that the program will be continuous, taking place annually at the beginning of every academic year in September.
