In a renewed commitment towards rejuvenating the "School Garden" Initiative, a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Ogun State on Finance, Mr. Dimeji Belo has established a school garden at the Moslem Primary School, 1 Isoku, Ijebu-Ode.
According to Mr. Belo "the establishment of the School Garden Initiative, which is the pilot phase, is targeted at the provision of nutritious meals for school children, while also giving them a sense of Commerce".
The SSA on Finance to the Governor, who revealed this to journalist in Abeokuta, noted that initiative was targeted at complementing the Prince Dapo Abiodun's led-adminstration commitment at ensuring that the welfare of students and teachers are well managed and catered for.
Belo revealed that arrangements had been concluded for the commencement of the next phase, which shall include Bazaars for sale of extra produce and Financial Literacy/Inclusion Drives all in a bid to ensure that from a very early age, the Ogun Standard ethos of being financially savvy is instilled in the youths, while technical assistance and the provision of machinery is simultaneously ongoing at the time of this report.
The Gov's aide thereafter called on the Organised Private Sector (OPS) in the state, and other selfless philanthropists to support the state government by 'Adopting a School' for the establishment of a School Garden in any citadel of their choice.
