OGUN CIVIL SERVICE BOSS DRUMS SUPPORT FOR OGSHIS

The Chairman, Ogun State Civil Service Commission, Engr. Tokunbo Odebunmi, has urged Civil Servants to be more conscious of their health by subscribing to the Ogun State Health Insurance Scheme (OGSHIS), as good health and wellness would enhance their productivity.

Eng. Odebunmi made this known in Abeokuta, while playing host to a team of Ogun State Health Insurance Agency (OGSHIA), led by the Executive Secretary, Dr. Afolabi Dosumu, who came on advocacy visit to the Commission to sensitise them on the need to key into the health insurance scheme.

He emphasised on the importance of the scheme and derivable benefits, which included cost saving, considering the economic reality in the country, covering both the subscriber and registered members of the family, in case of any eventualities, among others.

The Chairman promised to pay a month’s subscription for staffers of the Commission, expressing optimism that the gesture would be an encouragement for them to key into the scheme.

Appreciating the team for the enlightenment, the Permanent Secretary in the Commission, Mrs. Roseline Jacobs, noted that health issues should not be handled with levity, promising to encourage the staff to register for the scheme.

While speaking on the Agency’s mission to the Commission, Dr. Dosumu explained that the primary objective of the agency is to ensure that residents in the state have access to affordable quality health care through individual and collective participation, enjoining Civil servants to invest in the scheme without any fear, as it has constitutional backing.

"I want to say that for interested Civil Servants, willing to key into the scheme that they need to pay eight hundred and fifty Naira (N850.00) monthly subscription, while those who are not, shall pay one thousand Naira (N 1,000) monthly and annually renew their registration cards, whereas Civil Servants do not require such, as long as they are in Service, just as a family will pay four thousand (N4,000) per month, to benefit from the scheme", he said.
