Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on Tuesday, arrested commercial motorcycle riders, commonly known as Okada, who were plying against traffic along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
A video shared on social media by the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Wale Ajetunmobi, captured when the Sanwo-Olu halted his convoy and pursued the riders violating traffic rules.
On noticing the governor’s presence, the Okada riders hastily dispersed, abandoning their motorcycles and passengers to evade arrest. However, Sanwo-Olu’s team managed to apprehend five of the riders.
In one shared video, Governor Sanwo-Olu admonished a passenger, referred to her as a graduate, and emphasised the risks of engaging in such unlawful behaviour.
Hey, madam, you are a graduate, and you allowed them to take you on a one-way… if you fall and you die, they will say the government killed you. What a shame,” remarked Governor Sanwo-Olu.
