COMMITMENT AND LOYALTY ESSENTIAL FOR SUCCESSFUL GOVERNANCE, HoS.

 


Public Servants' allegiance and dedication to government have been identified as essential ingredients in achieving the goals and objectives of the various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of Government.


The Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun made this known while declaring open a 2-day workshop on "Work Commitment and Loyalty to Government" for senior management staff in the service of the Ogun State Government held at the Obas' Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.


Mr. Fagbohun said when the workforce is loyal to the cause of the State, leakages of information, revenue and diversion of resources would not occur in the Public Service.


The Number One Civil Servant asserted that workers must adhere to the ethical practice, adding that loyalty breeds trust which in turn is the catalyst for innovation, collaboration and long term success.


He therefore said Public Servants are portrayed through dedication to the schedule of duties, adaptability, career enhancement, punctuality, accountability and alignment with government goals and objectives, and urged them to strive to ensure the success of any administration they serve through unalloyed commitment and loyalty.


In his remarks, the Lead Consultant, BlueHorn Global Consult Limited, who is a former Head of Service in the Oyo State Civil Service, Alhaji Tajudeen Aremu, said the training theme borders on leadership problems in Nigeria, adding that commitment and loyalty are essential to all activities in the Civil Service.


He therefore enjoined the participants to acquire the knowledge made available by the training and transmit the Idea to subordinates in their various MDAs.


In their separate goodwill messages, the Permanent Secretaries in the Bureaux of Public Service Reforms, Mr. Jola Oyeneye and Service Matters, Mr. Oladipupo Ogunfowora and that of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dr. Rotimi Olu Akinlesi said that the participants were empowered to enhance their productivity, urging them to take advantage of the training for their personal and work place development. They added that they should pass down the knowledge acquired to their subordinates through the train the trainers for all round success in the Civil Service.


Earlier in her welcome address,  the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishments and Training, Mrs. Lydia Fajounbo, represented by the Director, Management Services and Training in the Bureau, Mr. Olusegun Akinfaiye, said the aim of the training was to improve the capacity of the participants with a career impacting experience for personal development and for enhancement of service delivery in their respective MDAs.
