Ogun State Government has revealed plans to renovate 472 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) across the state.
Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, who made this known at the commissioning of the Royal Health Center, Ake, said aside from renovating 236 PHCs in the first term of the present administration, 472 PHCs across the state had been scaled up for facelift in the next four years, assuring that Governor Dapo Abiodun was fully committed to the implementation by signing a compact with the Minister of Health, towards getting the necessary funding.
Dr. Coker said the renovated primary health post had been upgraded to a primary health centre, to enable people within the neighbourhood access quality health care, adding that indigents can be registered and get free health care services from the facility.
She pointed out that the strategic location of the health centre within the palace gave credence to the fact that the Alake of Egbaland prioritised quality health care.
In his remarks, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, the Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland lauded government’s initiative to renovate PHCs, urging residents to make good use of them for their health benefits.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary, Primary Health Care Development Board, Dr. Elijah Ogunsola, appreciated government and the Alake of Egbaland for making the project a reality, as it would enable healthcare accessible to the people within and outside the area.
