Recognising the crucial role of Agriculture in ensuring food security and economic stability, the Ogun State Government has earmarked N14,213.03B for Agriculture and Industry out of the N703.03B budgeted for 2024 fiscal year.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun disclosed this while presenting the 2024 budget tagged, "Budget of Sustained Growth and Development" to the state House of Assembly in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

         Abiodun stated that in 2024, land development, maintenance of livestock feed, qualify control and protection, input support for various farmers and grant support for land clearing state wide would be given priority, adding that training of youths on digital solutions to enhance their involvement in agriculture would also not be left out.

    He said, "We are an agrarian state with the potential to become the food basket of the nation".       

The Governor pointed out that his administration’s focus on agriculture was deliberate, stressing that the state has become the largest producers of cassava in the world, and largest producers of poultry products in Nigeria, maintaining that agricultural interventions had contributed to the overall economic growth of the state and has attracted investment from both local and international partners.

          According to him, the efforts of the present administration in agriculture have been yielding significant results in positioning the state as a leading agricultural hub in Nigeria.
