The newly upgraded Inspectors of Taxes Cadre in the Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS), have been charged to ensure that they put in their best by providing efficient services that will enable the Agency to achieve its mission of helping taxpayers carry out their civic responsibilities in the bid to generate revenue for government.
The Executive Chairman of OGIRS, Mr. Olugbenga Olaleye, gave this charge at an in-house training organised for the newly upgraded Inspectors of Taxes at OGIRS headquarters, Abeokuta.
While addressing the inspectors, the Chairman noted that the era of doing things manually in OGIRS was over, urging them to acquaint themselves with the automation of all Tax transactions.
He implored them to engage in personal development activities, read, learn, and relearn constantly so that they would be relevant in matters relating to taxation.
"This is an era of digitisation of Tax processes, for you to be relevant in the Cadre you changed to, you must have open mind to read, learn and relearn, improve yourself constantly so that you will be relevant " he said
One of the participants, Mr. Felix Fasina on behalf of his colleagues appreciated OGIRS for the training and pledged their readiness to contribute their quota for OGIRS to achieve its mission.
Papers delivered during the training include the Structure of OGIRS, Best Practices for Direct Assessment, Risk Management and Internal Control of Tax Processes, Tax Operations, Public Service Rules, among others.
