Former minister of petroleum, Timipre Sylva, has blasted former president Goodluck Jonathan over his comment on last Saturday’s governorship election in Bayelsa State.
Jonathan had said that he would have relocated his mother from Bayelsa State to Abuja if the incumbent governor, Duoye Diri, had lost the election to Sylva.
In a reaction via his X (Twitter) handle on Saturday evening, Sylva described Jonathan’s comment as unfortunate.
“Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s statement is unfortunate. I sincerely hope he was misquoted. Let me just quote our respected Wole Soyinka: “you can take the hippopotamus out of the swamp but you cannot take the swamp out of the hippopotamus,” Sylva tweeted.
