In order to further sensitize Muslim faithful across the state on the modalities for the 2024 Hajj operations, the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has urged Islamic clerics to educate intending pilgrims on the need to expedite action on the Hajj fare deposits.
Speaking during the sensitization exercise at Ilaro Central Mosque, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Dauda Salau said the essence of the sensitization was to inform Muslims across the State on the commencement of 2024 Hajj Operations and the need for them to promptly deposit the sum of 4.5million naira Hajj fare on or before 31st of December, 2023 as announced by National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
Salau while addressing the League of Imams and Alfas explained that being the major stakeholders, it was necessary to carry them along in the activities of the Board so that they could further relate the message to the intending pilgrims and the Muslim Ummah.
"We are here to solicit your support as we are aware that you are key stakeholders in the hajj operations. We want you to use your position and goodwill to tell the Muslim faithful and intending pilgrims about the 2024 hajj operations so that they can pay on time before the December 31, 2023 deadline". He said
It would be recalled that the Board had earlier been to Ijebu, Remo and Egba zones, respectively, to sensitize them on the same subject matter.
Alhaji Dauda explaining the modalities for 2024 hajj, says there is a need for them to promptly deposit their hajj fare as this will give them opportunity to get seats for the 2024 pilgrimage.
In his response, the Chief Imam of Ilaro and Secretary, League of Imams and Alfas in Ogun State, Sheik Tajudeen Mustapha Adewunmi said, the Muslim Ummah in Yewa zone were ready to assist the Board towards achieving a successful 2024 hajj operation.
