OGIRS SETS TO CREATE ADDITIONAL TAX STATION

To improve the revenue generation of the state government, the Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) is set to add another station to the 35 tax stations in existence across the state.

The Executive Chairman of OGIRS, Mr. Olugbenga Olaleye, disclosed this while playing host to the State Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun and his team at OGIRS headquarters in Abeokuta.

The Chairman said the establishment of the new tax station would enable the Agency to cover more ground by collecting more taxes from taxpayers that have not been captured

"We have put lots of initiatives to shore up revenue, one of which was the establishment of an additional tax station at Atan Ota and we are planning to establish another one at Mowe to cover more areas, get closer and reach more taxable adults, thereby increasing revenue generated into government's coffer", he stated.

Speaking, the Head of Service, who was accompanied by five of his Permanent Secretaries appreciated OGIRS for its efforts in revenue generation for the state government, charging the Directors to be more professional, accountable and transparent in the course of discharging their services, and resolute in ensuring discipline among staff, in order to achieve set target.

According to him, "anyone that has no value to add to OGIRS has no reason to stay.  The era of counting numbers and not adding value is over. The government is interested in OGIRS, everyone must therefore sit tight and add value to the system. "Any clog in the wheel of OGIRS progress will be excused".

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishment and Training, Mrs. Lydia Fajohunbo lauded the state government's interest in the welfare of public servants at all times, especially in the area of promotion exercises.
