In the bid to expand the tax net and boost revenue generation into the Ogun State Government's coffer, the State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Lagos StateAccountant General to solicit for a reconciliatory meeting on payment of taxes by residents of the two States
The Executive Chairman of OGIRS, Mr Olugbenga Olaleye who led the OGIRS Team to Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa said, the visit was long overdue and there was need for the two states to meet, discuss and explore areas of mutual interest that would benefit them with regards to revenue generation
He enthused that when a tax based reconciliatory meeting is achieved with special consideration for residency rule, there would be expansion in their tax nets and other opportunities would be explored for improved revenue generation
The Permanent Secretary/ Accountant General of Lagos State, Dr Biodun Muritala, appreciated the reconciliatory meeting initiated by OGIRS and gave the assurance that his office would fast track the meeting by involving other stakeholders in the business of taxation in order to achieve a meaningful deliberation
He noted that such meeting, when all stakeholders are involved, could bring about revelation of other opportunities that the two states could harness for improved revenue.
