The need for Data Sharing among tax authorities at both Federal and State Revenue Services has been identified as a way of harnessing the potential available to increase revenue generated into government's coffers.
The Executive Chairman of Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS), Mr. Olugbenga Olaleye made this known while playing host to the officials of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Mr. Olaleye noted that OGIRS was committed to embracing collaborations that would enable the Agency to achieve its mission of generating revenue for State government, while helping taxpayers meet their responsibilities in a conducive environment.
He stated that the Agency was concerned with payment of appropriate taxes, saying, ‘’We don’t want taxpayers to underpay or overpay, all we want is collection of appropriate taxes. Here at OGIRS, we work towards achieving customer’s experience which is beyond customer service. We provide advisory roles that always bring them back".
Speaking earlier, the State Coordinator of FIRS, Mr. Olugbenga Adebayo in his presentation, said collaborations in joint audit and investigation, capacity building, joint taxpayer’s education and enlightenment, among others were essential towards harnessing potentials that were unattended to.
