The Ogun State Head of Service has assured the Civil Servants who were asked to vacate government quarters at Idi-Aba and Ibara, Abeokuta that the project is in the interest of the generality of the people.
The Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun made this known while on an inspection visit with the Commissioner for Housing, Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi, and other top government functionaries, to government quarters at Idi-Aba and Ibara housing estates in Abeokuta.
He reiterated that the essence of the Public Service is to support any administration in power to achieve its set objectives by providing necessary support in carrying out its policies and objectives.
He lauded Public Servants for their continuous support of the present administration in Ogun State by turning the dilapidated structures into value.
"The government has come out that it wants to create a better living environment by converting underutilized assets to valuable ones, we have no option than to tow the line of the State government and we have appealed to our workers living in the two estates after they have been served quit notices to vacate the property ", Mr. Fagbohun said.
The Head of Service thereafter charged the Public Servants to continue to support the government in all its endeavours because the State Governor has the welfare of Workers at heart.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Housing, Omoniyi said the Housing Estates visited were in a dilapidated state and the visit was to kick-start Governor Dapo Abiodun's directive to redesign the housing estates to conform with modern times.
He said the residents had earlier been asked to vacate the quarters and they have heeded the quit notices to create avenues for planning and redevelopment of the smart estates where people could live, work and play and at the same time enhance the aesthetics and value of the estates, just as similar redevelopment would still be carried out in other government quarters across the State.
