500 SAGAMU RESIDENTS RECEIVE FREE MEDICAL SERVICES

 



No fewer than 500 residents of Sagamu have benefitted from a free medical outreach programme in celebration of the maiden edition of the Local Government Service Week in Ogun State. 


The move was part of activities marking the year 2023 Local Government Service Week, with the theme, "Renewed Local Government Service", held at Oriyanrin, Offin in Sagamu Local Government Area.

Declaring open the Week, Chairman of the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission, Ms. Olubukunola Onabanjo, said the event was meant to celebrate unity of purpose and genuine commitment to the well-being of all and sundry in every Local Government, noting that the outreach was part of activities to reach out to indigenes who need medical attention.


Represented by Commissioner II, Mr. Koye Ijaduoye in the Commission, Mrs. Onabanjo pointed out that the free medical outreach covers services such as health talks and consultation, distribution of drugs to hypertension and diabetes patients, among others in the area.

Also, speaking, the Chairman, Sagamu Local Government, Hon. Afolabi Odulate, represented by the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), Alhaji Abayomi Lemboye lauded the State government for its support and contributions to enhance the health status of the residents, appreciating the people for turning out for the activities.


 He admonished them to take proper care of their health and ensure to take their drugs regularly as prescribed by the doctors.


Hon. Odulate congratulated the Local Government Service Commission for the day, assuring that the present administration at the State and council levels would continue to provide a conducive working environment needed to promote efficient service delivery.


The Director, Primary Health Care in the Local Government Dr. Solarin Mutiu expressed satisfaction with the smooth running of the programme and appreciated the Chairman of the Commission for initiating such a life-saving outreach, the first of its kind to mark the LG week where health condition and wellness of staff were prioritised.


Among the beneficiaries accosted during the programme were Mr. Hammed Adeyemi and Mrs. Funmi Kehinde applauded the organisers for the free medical outreach to mark the LG week, saying they had benefited in no small measure from the outreach.
