WE'LL CONTINUE TO GIVE MARKET DEVELOPMENT A PRIORITY - OGSG






Ogun State government says it will not relent in prioritising market development, in order to make trading activities more convenient across the State.


The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola who made this known in Abeokuta during the 40th Anniversary of Oba Lipede Market, Kuto, Abeokuta, stated that the facility which was inaugurated on July 27, 1983, was planned and constructed with the necessary amenities to aid trading activities and ensure the security of lives and goods.


Aikulola pointed out that the present administration, as part of its commitment to the development of the markets across the State promptly commenced and completed the renovation of portions of the market affected by rainstorms some months ago.


Represented by the Director of Commerce, Mr. Olalere Ariyibi-Opaleye, the Permanent Secretary added that the government would continue to play its part by maintaining the facilities at the market to aid trading activities.


“The commitment of the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration to the development of trading activities in the State and ensuring this market continues to progress is unflinching. When rainstorms affected this market His Excellency ensured that renovation works were started and duly completed. The present administration will not rest on its oars in aiding the development of this Market,” the Permanent Secretary said.


In her address, the Iyaloja of the Market, Chief (Mrs.) Tejumade Bakre, said since becoming the Market leader over 25 years ago, the facility has continued to be a leading Market, calling on traders to be united and inculcate the habit of giving beneficial suggestions that could help improve trading conditions.


She commended the government for its support and timely intervention in renovating the Market after the rainstorm experienced over the course of the year.
