A former student of African Church Grammar School, Miss Olayemi Alaka, has been presented with a scholarship award worth N4 Million naira, to cover her tuition fees, books, academic periodicals, and other sundry expenses throughout the period of her studentship in a higher institution.
Miss Alaka was nominated by the Wife of the Governor of Ogun State, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun for ‘’the Renewed Hope Initiative’’, an Oluremi Tinubu Scholarship Programme, for being an outstanding learner with four As and five Bs in 2022 WASSCE and for scoring 306 in JAMB in the same year.
Speaking during the presentation of the document, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu explained that the package of the award includes One Million Naira (N1,000,000) per year for four years, one HP laptop and other gift items.
While congratulating the beneficiary, Prof. Arigbabu enjoined her not to lose focus but to continue to put in more effort in her academic pursuit for her to win more laurels, attributing the excellent performance of the learners, teachers and schools to the huge investment of the present administration in the education sector.
"I want to advise you to continue to maintain the outstanding performance. This is a good initiative coming from the First Lady of Nigeria, Chief (Mrs.) Oluremi Tinubu to help in contributing meaningfully to the development of learners in the country for excellent academic performance" he said.
Earlier in her remarks, the Director of Education, Planning, Research and Statistics, Mrs. Abosede Edun, commended the initiative of the Flagship Secondary Schools in the State by the present government, saying it has been yielding desired results.
In her appreciative notes, the beneficiary, Miss. Olayemi Alaka expressed gratitude to the wife of the Governor for nominating her for the scholarship award.
