Ogun Commissioner Designate, Hon. Fagbayi Congratulates Gov. Abiodun on Tribunal's victory.

Ogun State Commissioner Designate, Hon. Fagbayi Oluwasesan has congratulated the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun on his victory at the election petition tribunal on Saturday.

Hon. Fagbayi in a congratulatory message made available to journalists in Abeokuta, the state capital, said the unanimous decision of the three-man tribunal headed by Justice Hamidu Kunaza has cleared any doubt on the victory of Governor Abiodun and his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele in the last governorship election.

The Commissioner-designate described the victory as "sweet of democracy", noting that the Governor's triumph does not come to him as surprise based on the fact that, he knows that the people of the State voted for him overwhelmingly.

He said; "First and foremost, I want to congratulate our able, amiable Governor and true leader, Prince Dapo and his Deputy, Engr.Noimot Salako-Oyedele on the victory at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal. Personally, this judgement did not come to me as a surprise based on the fact that, our Governor truly won the election through the votes cast by good people of Ogun State"

According to Fagbayi, "This is a sweet victory for democracy and we give the Glory to our Almighty God", once again I congratulate His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun on his victory at the tribunal".

Hon. Fagbayi also expressed gratitude and confidence in our judiciary saying that it remains the last hope of the common man and the election petition tribunal has spoken loud and clear on the victory of Governor Abiodun.

It would be recalled that on Saturday while giving judgment, the tribunal held that evidence before it showed that the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Candidate , Mr Ladi Adebutu against the election of Abiodun lacked merit.

The judges held that the petitioners failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt, the allegations of non-compliance, overvoting, disenfranchisement of voters and corrupt practices during the polls.

Reading the judgement, Kunaza held that the petitioners failed to prove the fact of their case, saying “On the whole the petitioners have not successfully prove the allegation of non compliance with the electoral act and have not discharge the burden of prove"
