The Ogun State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital, has affirmed the election of Honourable Wasiu Ayodele Sunday Popularly Known as IWA of All Progressive Congress, APC, on Monday 2nd of October 2023.
The three- man panel headed by Justice Imelda Bassey Etape stated that Ayodele was duly elected during the march 18 election.
In a petition filed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Honourable Olowofuja Idowu, seeking the nullification of IWA Victory, claiming he should be declared winner of the closely contested Election.
The 3- hour judgement saw the three man Panel rejected all the documents brought by the petitioner that, “they failed to bring any INEC officials to demonstrate the content of those documents”.
“They failed to lead evidence to show non compliance with the Electoral Act, that they failed to demonstrate to the Tribunal the polling units where there were over voting.
” The panel unanimously reaching a conclusion that the petitioner lacks merit and hereby declared Honourable Wasiu Sunday Ayodele the winner of OGHA Constituency II”.
