A member of Ogun State House of Assembly, representing Abeokuta South State Constituency II, Hon. Igbalaye Wasiu Ayodele, popularly known as IWA has empowered 100 youths within his constituency as to celebrate his 100 days in office.
He also donated borehole to his constituents and doled out cash to widows and aged men and women as to assist them.
The 100 youths who were empowered have already participated in various skills acquisition training such as barbing, make up, tailoring and hair dressing and they were also issued with certificates of participation.
The beneficiaries received tools such as make up boxes, sewing machines, dryers, clippers among others. The borehole was donated to the people of ward 8 under his jurisdiction.
The lawmaker while speaking with newsmen appreciated his constituents for their love, support and prayers since he has assumed office.
IWA said that the gesture will help his people to be economically independent.
According to him, the gesture was in fulfillment of his campaign promises made to the people, aimed at engaging them into useful ventures.
He said that he has decided to give back to his people because they supported him during the election which led to his victory at the poll.
He promised that he will touch all wards under his constituency within his two years in office.
"I want to appreciate my constituents for their love, support and prayers so far. Today I am celebrating my 100 days in office and i can not celebrate it without giving back to my people and that is why we are here today to empower the youths who have undergone various skills acquisition programme. I am empowering 100 of them with various equipment, such as clippers, sewing machines, make up boxes, dryers among others. This is to better the lives of the people of my constituency. The gesture was borne out of my desire to make the youths economically independent.
"I want to urge the beneficiaries to use the items in order to be self-reliant and to improve your standard of living and that of your family members,” he said.
"Today i am handing over a borehole to the people of ward 8 infulfilment of my promise made to them that i will give them a borehole"
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the party, APC in Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Henry Fagbenro commended IWA for his good gesture to his constituents, saying that he has made the party and the people proud in Abeokuta South.
The House of Representatives member in Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, Hon. Afola Afuape described IWA as a man of his words, saying that he has proven to be a true representative of the people.
He urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the items given to them.
The former Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Titi Oseni also praised the lawmaker for giving back to his people, urging him to continue in his good deeds.
The ward 8 chairman, Chief Mufutau Babatunde appreciated IWA for giving them a borehole, promising that the ward will continue to give him full support anytime and any day.
The Baale of Sokenu, Chief Mukaila Alani Sokunbi also described IWA as a politician with large heart, assuring him of his support.
The Ward Leader, Rasheed kolawole, popularly known as Rento thanked IWA for his good deeds to the people of ward 8, describing IWA as a man of his words.
"We appreciate you, Honorable Igbalaye Wasiu for your good deeds to us in ward 8. You promised and you have fulfilled , we are happy and God will continue to be with you" the ward leader said.
Other dignitaries present were Hon. Ilori, the commissioner designate, Dr. Ololade Kehinde, Hon. Farouq Akintunde, Hon. Allen tailor, some leaders of the party, women leader, ward chairmen, youth leader and other personalities.
