As part of her effort to touch the lives of the indigent women in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State, as well as use the occasion to mark her 100 days in office as a member, representing Ijebu-Ode, State constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Olanrewaju Bakare, has awarded cash gifts to over 100 Widows in the Council Area.
Speaking at the occasion, held at Ayegbami Constituency Office in the Council area, Hon. Bakare, expressed her heartfelt feelings for the cash gifts to the widows, saying most of the women in widowhood had been abandoned to struggle and fend for themselves without much support from their family members.
She pointed out that over 100 widows were carefully selected across the area to benefit from the cash gift along with medical outreach, which includes checking blood pressure and sugar levels as part of the effort to give them a sense of belonging and lift up their spirits for a better tomorrow.
She said, "Today, I have come to appreciate you looking at the excruciating pain a woman goes through when she loses her husband which cannot be quantified. That's why I am giving out these cash gifts to over 100 Widows to support them and make their lives more meaningful.
Speaking earlier, Chairman, Governor Advisory Council Chief Oluleye Okuboyejo appreciated Hon. Bakare for her kind gesture for giving succor to the Widows in her constituency.
One of the widows, Mrs. Remi Onabule thanked the Lawmaker for her kind-heartedness in remembering the widows and for lifting up their souls with love and hope, saying the widows would forever be grateful for her kind gesture towards improving their well-being in society.
