Tourism minister not poisoned, she had malaria, says FG official

The federal ministry of tourism has debunked some media reports, which claimed that the minister of tourism, Lola Ade-John, was poisoned and rushed to the hospital.

Assistant Director Press in the ministry, Emem Mariam Ofiong, told Vanguard that the minister had malaria, adding that she has been treated and stabilised.

Her words, “It is not true that the minister was poisoned; she only had malaria and had been treated and is now stable.”

The minister recently assumed office as the first indigenous minister of tourism after the splitting of the defunct ministry of information and culture by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu into three:

1) Ministry of information and national orientation

2) Ministry of arts, culture, and creative economy and

3) Ministry of Tourism.

In her welcome address, she pledged to transform the ministry into a global appellation and to make it a significant economic earning to the Nigeria economy.

The Ogun state-born minister is among the 48 ministers appointed by President Tinubu in August.
