As part of measures put in place to further curb the cult killings and ensure security of lives and property in Sagamu Local Government Area of the State, the Ogun State Government has reeled out strong security notice to all the indigenes and residents of the area.
The security measure among others were contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Lekan Adeniran, who assured residents of government intervention at ensuring security of their lives and property by curbing the killings and arresting all the perpetrators involved in the acts.
The statement notified "residents of sagamu and its environs of total restriction of human and vehicular movement as a way of taking firm control of the security architecture of the area and protect lives and property as no perpetrator will go unpunished.
The state government therefore urged residents to abide with the restriction order as non-compliance would result in great consequences".
In a related development, the Chairman Sagamu Local Government, Hon. Jubril odulate during an interview with journalists in his Office said serious measures had been put in place to curb the ugly incident.
According to him, "to curb the insurrection and ensure adequate security in Sagamu, operating hours for Okada riders and Marwa Operators have been restricted from 6.00am to 7.00pm until further notice, while those engaging in nudity entertainment businesses have been prohibited in the Community, no loitering of "olosho" on the road sides".
Hon. Odulate disclosed that security operatives had swung into action by patrolling and for searching for their hideout as part efforts to nip the unrest and killings in the bud, saying presently several arrests had been made by security agents, assuring that government was on top of the situation to end the killings.
The Chairman frowned at the rate at which innocent people lost their lives in the supremacy battle among cult rivals. and reiterated Prince Dapo Abiodun's zero tolerance to cultism and criminality in the state, urging people to adhere strictly to the restriction notice as non compliance would result to serious consequences. ,Some of the residents of Sabo, Makun, Ijagba, Isalẹ - Oko, Baruwa, Ojumele, Ajegunle that were contacted on the cult killings were still in shock and afraid of talking on the issue for now. ,,They appreciated government prompt responses while many of them expressed their displeasure over the wastage of lives during the cult rival killings. They all concluded that it was only government that could end cultism in the society. They advised that government should fish them out and punish those found guilty to serve as deterrents.
