Peter Obi missing as tribunal delivers judgement on presidential election

Peter Obi, Labour Party’s presidential candidate, is absent as the tribunal delivers verdict on the 2023 presidential election.

Obi was mostly present during the hearing of his petition against the emergence of Bola Tinubu as Nigeria’s president after the February election.

Labour Party’s national chairman, Julius Abure, stood in for Obi in court today.

Meanwhile, vice president Kashim Shettima introduced himself as the first responder, alongside the chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje.

President Tinubu is also absent at the tribunal sitting.

The president departed Nigeria for the G-20 meeting in India on Tuesday.

Today’s judgment will be delivered by the chairman of the tribunal, Justice Haruna Tsammani, assisted by other members of the panel: Justices Stephen Adah, Monsurat Bolaji-Yusuf, Moses Ugo, and Abba Mohammed.
