Heavy security has been deployed at the venue of the Ogun Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in the Isabo area of the state as the court is set to deliver judgment in the petition of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, against the victory of Governor Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Amotekun Corps are present to maintain order.
At the time of filing this report, the Minister of State for Environment and Ecological Management, Dr. Iziaq Kunle Salako, and the Senator representing Ogun West, Olamilekan Adeola, are already in court.
INEC had declared Abiodun winner after polling 276,298 votes, while Adebutu scored 262,38 and Biyi Otegbeye of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) came distant third with 94,754 votes.
However, PDP and Adebutu dissatisfied with the result, dragged Abiodun and APC before the Tribunal, alleging that the governor did not win the majority of votes cast during the March 18 governorship election.
